MATH 260 Week 4 Discussion

Trigonometric functions are some of the most important functions that you will explore. Remember that they are periodic, so they have many real-world applications in studying various kinds of waves and frequencies. Here are some questions that we will address. Please post answers in this thread.

  • What are the formulas for the derivatives of the trig functions?
  • How do we use them to find derivatives of more complex functions involving trig forms?
  • How can we use the trig identities to rewrite functions so that we can apply the basic formulas?
  • What are real-world applications for trig functions, particularly those that come from your program?
  • Explain how you can use the derivative to explore these applications.

Please feel free to use examples from the homework to illustrate your answers.

MATH 260 Week 4 Lab

Instructions

Please click on the link below to open up the lab. It will be in the form of a MS Word document. Please complete all parts of the lab and note that there are places where you must show the work that you did to reach the answer to a problem.

Online Note: There are several ways that you can do this action. If you have Word 2007 or newer version(s), you can use the equation editor located under the Insert tab. If you have a digital camera or a cell phone with a camera, you can take a picture of your handwritten work, upload it to your computer, and from there, submit it. You can scan your handwritten work into your computer and submit it. Finally, only if none of the other methods works for you, you can type directly from the keyboard using parentheses, carats, and other symbols to delineate the pieces of your answers.

MATH 260 Week 4 MIDTERM EXAM

You have one attempt on the Midterm. It is strongly recommended that you use the Study Plan after taking the Review to work through any topics you feel you need more experience with prior to taking the Midterm.

The Midterm covers Weeks 1, 2, and 3 material. It is designed to test what you have learned so far.

Remember to submit your exam when you are finished.
